SCEDA Series Event Important Notice

Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels No-E payout has been increased to $1,000* for any racer who pays the normal weekend entry fees to SCEDA on or BEFORE days’ start of time trials, AND enters for both days, will qualify for a special bonus purse of $500 per day, making the total payout to the winner $1,000.  If payment is not made for both days prior to the first time trial session, the guaranteed minimum will remain at $500. 

NO-E Rule Correction - In 2008, we were approached by a group of racers asking for a split tree (sportsman and pro) for the no-electronics class.  At the time we researched the idea and it seemed like a good way to increase car counts and thereby increase the payouts to the participants of this class.  However, the increased participation did not materialize, and in fact actually decreased participation because of the new rule.  Therefore, effective immediately, starting with our next events on July 3^rd and 4^th in Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels No E category, we will revert to the single .500 sportsman tree.  A split tree will no longer be available in this class or any others. We have always strived to pay out as much as possible to our participants and feel that we need to make this correction in order to adhere to this policy.

ARP – AUTOMOTIVE RACING PRODUCT RACE OF CHAMPIONS” – The World Leader in Fastener Technology event will be on Sunday August 15^th.  This event has all winners in each class participating and the July weekend is the last weekend to qualify.  If you were a past winner this season you are qualified.  Please note that the Junior Dragster group will run separately on Saturday, August 14^th.  The ARP RACE OF CHAMPIONS is SCEDA’s premier annual event. The race combines the individual race winners in the Meziere Enterprises Electronics, Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels No-Electronics and Calvert Racing Stock & Super Stock categories. These racers then compete in a winner-take-all season ending clash.   Along with the title rights sponsorship for the ARP – Automotive Racing Products SCEDA RACE OF CHAMPIONS, ARP – Automotive Racing Products will also reward each individual race winner and runner up in the three major SCEDA categories with $100 and $50 in the form of a product certificate.  Along with all of the participating companies that have been involved with SCEDA we want to say thanks to: Meziere Enterprises, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels, Calvert Racing Suspension, Terminator Blocks, Clutches, & Accessories, ARP – Automotive Racing Products, Arias Pistons, West Coast Super Cops, Cal Automotive, and Scot Paul.

Calvert Racing Suspension – Stock/Super Stock Combo category who wins a SCEDA event, using Cal-Tracs Traction Bars and displaying a Calvert Racing decal on their car will be rewarded with an extra $100 bonus.  Runner up finishers who meet the same criteria will receive $50 for their efforts.

Ron Miller and Ken Ferguson of West Coast Supercops in Torrance California has put up $100 to the first SCEDA racer who cuts a perfect light during eliminations (does not include Juniors).  When you see Ron please make sure to tell him thank you for this award.

Chris Lee from Cal Automotive in Phelan, CA 760 868-2700 will award to the first person that goes red in eliminations in Meziere Electronics or Mickey Thompson non-electronics $50.  Thanks Chris and Cal Automotive for this creative award!

 Highlights for the upcoming events!

• Winners each day will receive a SCEDA “BIG GUY” Trophy and a SCEDA Event Winners decal.
• Winner each day will also have photo taken in winners circle or on track and will receive an enlarged framed copy of photo at the following event. Winner is responsible for making sure we have a photo prior to leaving the event.
• Winner each day to get $1,000 guaranteed minimum to win in Meziere Enterprises Electronics.   
• Winner each day to get $500 with a possible BONUS of $500 for a total payout of $1,000 IN JULY (see above) guaranteed minimum in Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels No Electronics both days.
• Winner each day to get $500 guaranteed minimum in Calvert Racing Suspension Stock – Super Stock Combo
• Payouts in all classes (except juniors) are based on daily SCEDA Series entries and are Progressive. 
• The winner of each day’s events will qualify for one free entry into the Prestigious ARP – Automotive Racing Products Race of Champions to be held in conjunction with the last weekends’ events.    
• Arias Pistons Dial Rite - to be held during the last time trial of the day each day.  The cost is only $10 and the winner will get back 100% of the amount entered each day.  (All classes)

2010 Series Remaining Dates

                        July 3^rd and 4^th         August 14^th and 15^th – Includes ARP Race of Champions  Banquet December 4^th 2010

Banquet Fees – If paid prior to October 31, 2010 just $45 per person.  $50 per person November 1^st – December 3^rd, and $55 at the door.  Send in your payments early to take advantage of the savings and secure your spot for the banquet.

SCEDA – Southern California Drag Racing Association was formed in the late 1970’s as a place for sportsman racers to participate.  Operating continuously since then, SCEDA has added additional bracket classes to the events to increase participation.  Some of our participants have gone on to attain the highest levels of achievement, both on and off the track.  We provide a family racing atmosphere, where kids as young as 8 can run in our junior dragster class and their Parents and Grandparents can race in the regular bracket classes.  SCEDA is the place to bracket race in Southern California.
