CALVERT RACING PARTNERS WITH NEW SCEDA CATEGORY

Fontana, Calif. - January 5, 2010 The Southern California Drag Racing Series (SCEDA) is pleased to announce a marketing partnership with Calvert Racing Suspensions for the 2010 racing season. The SCEDA Series Stock - Super Stock Combo class will now be known as the Calvert Racing Suspension Stock – Super Stock Combo class effective at the series first event this year to be held at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, Calif., January 23rd and 24th.

SCEDA held an introductory running for Stock and Super Stock as one class at the series final event in 2009 to see if it would fit in with their current bracket racing format.  The turnout was overwhelming, as nearly double the expected entries showed up to Fontana.  Due to the extreme interest, SCEDA decided to make the class a permanent addition in 2010.  Calvert Racing Suspensions noticed the excitement this new category created and decided to become the title rights sponsor.

Calvert himself a former NHRA World Champion in 1991 has a strong background in the NHRA sportsman categories.  Calvert drove one of Brent Hajek’s A/Stock Cobra-Jet Mustangs to a number two qualifying effort and event victory at the 2009 NHRA Winternationals.  The victory for Calvert was 41 years after the inaugural Cobra Jet debut in 1968.

The partnership between SCEDA and Calvert Racing also includes a bonus contingency program.  For any competitor in the Calvert Racing Suspensions Stock-Super Stock category who wins a SCEDA event, using Cal-Tracs Traction Bars and displaying a Calvert Racing decal on their car will be rewarded with an extra $100.00 bonus.  Runner up finishers who meet the same criteria will receive $50.00 for their efforts.

This new category is slotted to compete at eight SCEDA events in 2010. The dates are scheduled for January 23 and 24, March 27th and 28th, July 3rd and 4th and August 21st and 22nd.
